The skin is the human body’s largest organ and its first line of defense against any form of both physical harm and infection. However, open wounds, skin lacerations, burns, firearm injuries, or any form of physical that breaches the skin leave the body susceptible to a plethora of pat hogens and microbial infections. Fungal and bacterial infections can also infect the folds of the human nails and cause nail dystrophy.
Both wound and nail infections can easily enter the bloodstream and compromise the body’s immunity even if the patient is under antibiotics and lead to sepsis, severe trauma, or even amputation due to necrosis.
Our Wound-PDx and Nail-PDx rapidly detect multiple nail and wound pathogens present in specimens simultaneously through real-time PCR testing.
